EMED Mining Public Ltd (“EMED Mining” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of United States-based Mr Jasper Bertisen as a non-executive director of the Company as of 8 February 2012.  Mr Bertisen is replacing Mr Ross Bhappu, who has resigned as a director of the Company due to heavy work commitments.

Mr Jasper Bertisen (aged 31) is a principal with RCF Management LLC, the manager of Resource Capital Funds (together “RCF”), a group of private equity funds that invests exclusively in the mining sector.  RCF is a significant shareholder in EMED Mining with a current shareholding of 167,022,016 shares, representing approximately 19.5% of the shares currently on issue.

Mr Bertisen joined RCF in 2004 and, since that time, has completed technical and commercial due diligence on a large number of mining companies with projects ranging from late stage exploration through production. This has included providing significant strategic input to EuroZinc Mining Corporation in relation to its Aljustrel zinc and Neves-Corvo copper projects in Portugal.  Mr Bertisen is currently also a non-executive director of TSX-V listed AQM Copper Inc., another RCF investee company.

Mr Bertisen graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a M.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
